Coffee today is far cry from what it used to be. It's no longer just available in its purest form as numerous flavors have been created all over the world.

In fact, herbs are now added to this favorite morning and afternoon drink of many adults. This makes the coffee a healthier drink as the herbs moderate the effects of caffeine. Keep in mind that too much caffeine can increase stress and aggravate other health conditions but with the healthful properties of herbs combined, coffee can be enjoyed several times a day.

On the other hand, there's also the herbal coffee that does not contain caffeine but is as delicious as the real coffee. It is usually made from various ingredients including herbs, grains, fruits, figs and nuts which are grounded to brew.

Benefits of Herbal Coffee

Being caffeine-free, herbal coffee brings a lot of benefits to people. Firstly, it can serve as an anti-oxidant what with the herbs it contains. As such, it can help fight harmful cells in the body which could lead to serious diseases.

Herbal coffee can also maintain a person's youthful glow. This is because it has the potential of slowing down the ageing process and soothe the body naturally.

Also, coffee with herbs can help prevent certain illnesses that cause memory loss. Herbal coffee is said to boost the brain's cognitive functioning thereby slowing down memory loss.

Additionally, it can regulate the heart and calm the nervous system owing to the absence of caffeine in the drink.

Ways to Flavor Your Coffee

Other than its health benefits, adult drinkers can also also flavor their coffee the natural way. This will let you avoid large amounts of refined sugar normally contained in flavored syrups and sauces sold commercially to give your coffee a different taste.

One way to enjoy a unique taste is by adding spices to coffee grounds. You can use cinnamon, cardamon and nutmeg and sprinkle them over the coffee grounds in your brewer. Or you can also store coffee beans together with the spices. This way, you achieve your preferred flavor every time you make your cup of coffee without having to spend time mixing them.

Another option is to make flavored syrups at home. A simple way to do it is by adding in herbs and spices to your drink to produce the flavor you desire. Flavors great for coffee are vanilla bean, fresh rosemary, orange peel, clove, star anise and dried fruit. Syrups can be stored in your refrigerator for several weeks.

Still another way to enjoy coffee with a different flavor is by adding plant extracts or essential oils. These can be vanilla, orange and mint which you can get from grocery stores. Be sure to add only a few drops to your coffee cup to avoid any strong flavor.
